THE National Economic Development Council has set up a working party to ,examine possible sources of increased productivity in motor vehicle distribution and repair.
It will, for example says Neddy, look into the possibilities of greater specialization, less frequent need for servicing, more self-service at petrol pumps and advanced stock control.
The working party is to keep in close consultation with the Road Transport Industry Training Board.
The Council has also set up a demand forecasting working party to assess future growth required in the light of forecasts of vehicle population and age distribution, the effect of maintenance outside the motor trade and Government regulations.
