MR. H. J. Titoucarror-r, valuer for the British Transport Commission; has returned home after visiting Bombay, where he advised local authorities on transport matters. He was formerly South Shields Corporation's transport manager.

MR. P. BLAKE 'REECE has been appointed to the board of J. Blake and Co., Ltd., Liverpool. He is the son of MR. S. BLAKE REECE, managing director, and the great grandson of MR. JOSEPH BLAKE, whofounded the company in 1871.

MR. J. A. M. BRIGHT, who, as a result of nationalization, is no longer in the road haulage industry, but continues as honorary secretary of Selby Sub-area of the Road Haulage Association. recently received a presentation in appreciation of his services. MR. F. J. WRIGHT, chairman of the suh-area. handed over the gift.

MR. E. L. TAYLOR, a director of various B.E.T. companies, has been appointed deputy chairman of the board of management of the British Travel and Holidays Board.

LIEUT.-COL. H. 1. DAVIDSON, M.B.E., M.INsr.T., director of traffic of the John Lewis Partnership, recently received from the Greek Ambassador in London the insignia of the Order of the Gold Cross of George I for service to the Government of Greece during the war. In 1944 he was in command of the Movements and Transportation troops of the Royal. Engineers in Greece, and was concerned with the rehabilitation of Greek transport. Later he became chief of staff of the Combined British-American Transportation Mission to Greece,

THE issue of • "The Commercial Motor" dated December 17, 1948, contained an article describing the activities of E. H. Lee, Ltd., New Road, Woodston, Peterborough, a company which engages in many different transport activities. This company has now produced "At Your Service," an attractive booklet recording its out-of-theordinary feats in civil engineering and haulage.

OBITUARY

WE regret to announce the death of TT MR. ALEXANDER WYLIE, chairman of Wylie's, Ltd., Glasgow. He was 64 and had been a distributor of Ford vehicles in Glasgow for 25 years.
