Iveco is offering a range of off-the-shelf bodied
vehicles; Andy Salter takes a tipper for a spin.
Visitors to the SED Show in May this year might have spotted a new Eurocargo tipper on the Iveco stand complete with one of the company's CargoLiner range of bodies. CargoLiner is a new initiative from Iveco, which aims to get you a fully bodied truck to a standardyet highquality specification, ready for work within 24 hours.
The CargoLiner range, developed with a series of bodybuilder partners, includes box.curtainsider,dropside and tipper bodies. -You say what you want," says the brochure. "So long as it's standard, it'll he there within 24 hours."
Always on the lookout for an excuse to get behind the wheel, we took the Eurocargo tipper for a day out shortly after its debut at the SED Show.
Our 75E16S 7.5-tonner was equipped with the Euro-4 160hp version of the 3.92-litre, four-cylinder engine. Its SCR technology requires a supply of AdBlue; the tank is mounted on the offside chassis next to the fuel tank.
The almost brand new driveline was still a bit tight: no doubt the gearshift will ease considerably with another 10,000km under its belt.Apart from that there wasn't a lot to dislike about the Eurocargo. With 530Nm of torque on tap, performance wasn't an issue the little tipper felt as happy at full pelt on the motorway as it did tootling along country lanes.
The Eurocargo tipper's cab is strictly utilitarian, resulting in an easy-to-clean basic design, right down to the plastic seat covers.
Warrington-based Brit-Tipp is the body supplier for the 13ft CargoLiner tipper body.Thc spec is flexible enough to cover everything from local jobbing builder to regular construction site deliveries.The body is built from 43A high-tensile steel and relies on integral cross bearers to reduce the loading height.
Equipped with Edbro front-end tipping gear, the body comes with a threeyear warranty as well as the standard manufacturer's warranty on the chassis. •
