• The TUC has passed a monon urging the Government to spend more on Britain's transport infrastructure. At last week's TUC conference, United Road Transport Union leader Frank Griffin also asked delegates to push for better truckstops: "The choice being offered to lorry drivers is expensive small portions or unhygienic caravans in laybys," he said.
O The TUC has agreed to push for a 35-hour working week. This follows last month's "Florence Declaration", by leading transport unions which pledged to reduce lorry drivers' basic working week to 35 hours within the next four years.
