Companies is breaking into international coach recovery and repairs with a scheme launched this week. It now offers recovery, engineering and vehicle back-up from its own 60-strong fleet as well as sister companies: Kingsfonian in Hull, York Pullman in Yorkshire, Voyage National in Northern France and Kivits Reizen in Southern Holland.
Prized veteran • The world's oldest omnibus, a 1905 MimesDaimler, has been bought for the record price of 2135,000 at a Christie's sale in California. The doubledecker, which brought in 2100,000 more than expected, has a 1905 Gottlieb Daimler chassis topped by a British-built Mimes body.
Harrow Buses hit • Harrow Buses, which employs 250 drivers, is expecting to halve the size of its operation after a disastrous round of tendering results for Metroline. It has retained only five out of 12 routes, having lost the rest to companies including Sovereign Bus and Coach and London Country North West.
