Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• ERE is developing a new, four-bag, drive-axle air suspension package which it will be showing in pre-production form at the Motor Show this month. The Hendrickson Norde air suspension has been fitted on a 3.8m-wheelbase E10.325 tractor and, according to the Sandbach-based truck maker, will be generally available to operators as an option to standard steel springs from next April.

ERF already offers a twobag drive-axle air suspension on its rigids and tractors, but says that the four-bag system offers superior ride quality. It adds some 200kg to the kerbweight of a tractor but weighs only 30kg more than the twobag suspension.

Further weight reductions, however, are expected to be made to the four-bag package before it enters full production.
