an increase in the number of truck theft cases. In 1984 there were 65 cases, involving the loss of goods worth DM 11 million, com pared with 95 million in 1985, and losses totalling DM 14.7 million. Forty of the thefts of German-registered trucks actually took place in Federal territory (involving losses of DM 3.7 million).

In Italy, the problem continues to be much more serious — 3,437 trucks, complete with loads worth over one thousand million D-marks, were stolen in 1985. Verkehrs-Rundschau, August 23,
