by Paul Moody A QUARTZ-IODINE headlamp unit with dipping control will be shown for the first time on the stand of S.E.V. Marchal (Stand 297). The unit produces up to 63,000 candlepower compared with the 37,000 candlepower produced by a good-quality non-iodine headlamp. Also making their world debut on the Mucha] stand will be the quartz-iodine Senior Starlux matching pair of fog and long-range units.

Another aid to vision, a windscreen Washer, is to be exhibited by S. Norrish Ltd. (Stand 369). It is the new Airmatic windscreen washer made entirely from non-corrosive materials, which can be supplied at extra cost fitted with an electrical contact. This, when connected to the windscreen wiper mechanism, synchronizes the action of washer and wiper. Joseph Lucas Ltd. (Stands 236-8) is to show its new 8S.1 commercial vehicle Screenjet with a 15W wiper motor fitted with large arms and blades.

Also shown by Lucas will be a new stop-tail, flasher and number plate lamp which incorporates the latest safety features including a one-piece lens construction and a polypropylene body.

Security is the keynote on Stand 367 where Waso Ltd. will show its gear lever and steering locks. Wilmot Breeden Ltd. will be exhibiting on Stand 302 various versions of steering and ignition locks, some current production models and some in prototype form.

Tudor Accessories Ltd. (Stand 240) will introduce its new range of mirrors for commercial vehicles. There are seven mirrors in the range and the three largest are held in place by a rubber surround and, beneath that, by a tough glass-retaining clip. Mirrors will also be shown on Stand 385 by Wingard Ltd. The largest in the Wingard range is the 15-1-in. by 6in. Atlantic mirror, based on a type used by longdistance hauliers in the United States.

Safety devices are not missing from the Show. On Stand 369, S. Norrish Ltd. will be demonstrating a screen and a scanner which enable a driver, from his seat, to be aware of the presence of children under or around the vehicle. The units operate automatically and are retractable into their protective casing only when a hand lever or pedal is actuated by the driver. Another type of safety device, the advance-warning triangle, is to be shown on Stand 239 by Bluemel Bros. Ltd. The triangle, to warn drivers of obstructions, is faced with both fluorescent film and reflective sheeting to

make it clearly visible by both day and night.

On Stand 203, KL Automotive Products Ltd. will be showing several products for the first time. Included in these will be heater / demister units, extraction units, air filter units, air distributors and the KL 270 blower unit for forced ventilation, which has been designed primarily for use in p.s.v.

P.ss. equipment can also be found on Stand 353. Transport Engineering Equipment Co. Ltd. will be exhibiting vehicle ventilators, destination indicator screens, destination indicator gearing and destination and route indicator gearing selector mechanism. The Ahnex Ticket Machine Co. Ltd. (Stand 308) will be showing for the first time the Mod ej M Cancellor for automatic control and cancellation of multijourney tickets and the new magnetic-tape ticket machine together with its reader converter.

Another piece of equipment to be seen for the first time in this country will be on the stand of W. and J. Foster Ltd. (Stand 242). This is the Zenith Tachograph made by the Zenith Watch Manufacturing Co. Ltd. of Switzerland. It incorporates a visual speedometer, clock, speed warning light and daily trip meter, recording time, speed and distance data for up to three drivers for periods of 24 hours on five-, sevenor eight-day individual 24-hotir charts.

Thornley and Knight Ltd. is to show, in addition to its currently marketed products, a new quick-drying primer-undercoat which is claimed to dry in approximately an hour; a new Thorn-Etch Two-Pack washer primer (50/50 mix), claimed to give improved adhesion and corrosion resistance; a polyurethane enamel, which is available only for bulk orders and in agreed colours, and a new grey "barrier" coat, to prevent lifting of old paint films when changing to a cellulose system.

On Stand 335, J. IL Peek (Wigan) Ltd. will be exhibiting its tarpaulins and vehicle covers. The main feature of the stand will be Peck's Terylene /cotton core spun material (TCS 12) which is claimed to have double the life of conventional material.
