• The Perkins V8.510 diesel engine is now being produced in a new 130.000 sq.ft. factory at Fletton, Peterborough. This latest extension to Perkins' manufacturing facilities has cost £3.5m and is additional to a new engineering centre and office block that Perkins has recently completed. A high degree of automation has been achieved at the new Fletton factory which can produce 30,000 power units a year.
The engineering centre and five-storey office block is at the Group's Eastfield plant and cost £1.5m. It includes engineering workshops covering 63.000 sq.ft. and single-storey offices of 45,000 sq.ft. The five-storey block has a floor area of 56,000 sq. ft.
