Law for Road Users MOW almost wholly in force, the "1 Road Traffic Act, 1956, has had its different provisions brought into operation by subsequent stattitory instruments. It makes many amendments to the existing law and takes in several entirely new offences, besides providing additional grounds of defence and appeal in respect of existing offences.

Every road user would find it an advantage to know the new Act, but for some it is a necessity. "The ROad Traffic Act, 1956," by Robert Sehless (Butterworth and Co., 25s.) sets out the new law by reproduction of the text of the Act, followed section by sectiOn with copious notes and references to decided cases and statutory matter.

Although this method in itself lacks

a quick, comprehensive picture of the Act, this need is adequately supplied by a general introduction of over 20 pages, which is clearly and concisely written. For those interested in the whole of the law, this book, with its careful annotations, is the last word. It is greatly assisted by an admirable index.
