Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

L'OUR new bus stations, including a combined bus and helicopter station, are included in the Edinburgh Corporation Development Plan, which has been approved by the Secretary of State for Scotland. The plan is in two phases—one running to 1962 and the other to 1977.

Scottish Omnibuses, Ltd., have objected to the bus-station proposals, arguing that one station, at Clyde Street, would meet the demand, especially if additional land could be allocated 50 that it could be extended if necessary. This objection has been overruled, however.

Extensive road proposals include a relief ,rOad for the Bridges, running from a new roundabout at St. Leonard's Place to York Place. A third of this stretch would be in a tunnel. Another tunnel would take part of a road connecting St. Leonard's and Tollcross.

The Union Canal Road plan involves the closing of the Union Canal and its reconstruction as a four-mile stretch of road forming the main access from the west to Tolleross. Land is also allocated for a new western approach road, and for an eight-mile city by-pass.
