Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MORE TRUCK DRIVERS will be pushed into breaking the hours rules or parking illegally unless more truckstops are provided in Kent, consultants have warned.

A report, commissioned by Kent County Council and carried out by Faber Maunsell, says the shortage of parking spaces is likely to get worse and will make more drivers break the law.

The UK as a whole is short of overnight truckstops, but the problem is particularly acute in Kent as drivers look for places to park before cross-Channel journeys.

The report estimates that even the current demand for overnight parking in Kent for 1,000 vehicles far outstrips the officially available 640 spaces, The situation will worsen as demand for space increases and 290 spaces are lost when Ashford truckstop closes.

The report estimates that 330 trucks currently park illegally in Kent every night; it says this could rise to almost 850 by 2014.
