Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SI IORTAGLS COULD be looming at filling stations operated by rIesco,Total and Texaco because of a row over tanker drivers' pay.

Delivery contractor Wincanton, is thought to have offered an increase worth around 5%, which was overwhelmingly rejected.

TheTransport & General Workers Union (T&G) is due to tell the company this week (10 October) that the 400 drivers will now be balloted on industrial action.

Union sources say the Wincanton drivers are angry that the offer has failed to match up to deals elsewhere in the industry In June, nearly 500 Shell tanker drivers were offered an increase worth nearly 9% over two years — the T&G has described this rise as a benchmark for the rest of the industry (CM 23 June).

A spokesman for Wiricanton says the company will not comment on the row until it has received formal notice of the ballot.
