Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SCOTTISH hauliers will meet Transport and General Workers Union representatives in 10 days to consider a £10 acrossthe-board wage claim.

If granted, it would raise the 38-tonne rate to £110 and the £98 32.5 tonne rate to £108 for 40 hours. They want subsistence payment to be raised from £10.75 to £12.50 in line with national TGWU policy.

A nationally-decided claim for a 39-hour working week has also been lodged, but TGWU officer Willie Brand told CM that negotiators are prepared to accept an additional week's holiday instead.

They want the night rate to be increased to time-and-a-third as a step towards achieving an index linked night rate.

Both sides meet on October 23.

The United Road Transport Union has submitted a claim for its members in North-West England.
