Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ANSWERS to some of the most frequent inquiries addressed to the British Standards Institution about the metric system changeover are given in a booklet, Going metric: first stages (F D6245, BSI).

It describes the events leading to the Government's decision in 1965 to support a change to the metric system in British industry and to give BSI a key role in this change. It explains BSI's programme for the metrication of British Standards and for the co-ordination of the change in industry, and touches on the role of the Government during the transition period. Useful BSI metric publications are listed.

The booklet may serve to answer individual queries, and will be distributed within companies, at schools and colleges, and at exhibitions throughout the country. Single copies may be obtained free of charge from the BSI Press Office, 2 Park Street, London, Wl.
