question which will be discussed at the R.A.C. on Wednesday evening next.

We know of a vacancy as secretary or manager to a small provincial motorbus company. Applications should he marked " Brakeblock," and sent to this office.

The refusal of the illexborough District Council to issue a licence for a char-h-banes to the Mexborough and Swinton Tramways Co., has caused grave dissatisfaction amongst the local ratepayers. We recorded this shortsighted refusal in our issue for the t.),9th of September.

The Llandaff and Dinas Powis District Council is so anxious for a motorbus service between Cardiff and -Llandaff that a committee has been authorized to advertise for a service if necessary. An application has been received by the Council from Captain Beattie for licences for two taxicabs.

Public Wants Mon, Motorbuses.

Further suggestions that have been made for new London motorbus services include the following routes : Elephant and Castle to Victoria ; Richmond, via Sheen, Roehanipton Lane, and Barnes Station, to Hammersmith; Oxford Street, via Regent Street, to Victoria ; through Cromwell Road to Putney; King's Cross, via Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Street, -to Oxford Circus ; and St. John's Wood, via Abbey Road, to Oxford Circus. The last-named suggestion does not commend itself to motorbus proprietors, in view of the competing services along Maida Vale.

More Coaches for Folkestone.

At the last meeting of the Folkestone Town Council, a letter was received from Messrs. Reynolds and Son, inquiring if licences would be granted for additional motor coaches, which it is proposed to construct for the Lon

Petrol-electric for India.

W. A. Stevens, Ltd., of Victoria Works, Maidstone, yesterday gave a demonstration, in London, of the capabilities of one of its 3-4-ton petrolelectric omnibus chassis. This particular machine is to be supplied for public service in Central India, under a concession granted by the Maharajah of Gwalior. We shall, if space permits, have something more to say about this interesting machine in our issue of next week.

Vanguard Shareholders Now the Rearguard.

Shareholders in the old Vanguard Motorbus Co., Ltd., are still waiting for -the securities which they were to receive under the terms of the amalgamation with the L.0.0 Co., Ltd.. although the resolutions for the winding-up of the former concern were adopted two years ago. The litigation between the two undertakings has now got as far as the House of Lords. It would appear that these long-suffering shareholders will have no voting power at this year's annual general meeting of the L.G.O.C., owing to their inability to qualify as proprietors of the latter concern.

Eastbourne Manager's Brake.

At the last meeting of the Motor Omnibus Committee of Eastbourne Town Council, the special form of motorbus brake which has been designed by Mr. P. Ellison, the general manager, was inspected and approved. The Council is to be recommended to have the brake fixed to all its machines at prime cost. Mr. Ellison is to receive £15, for out-of-pocket expenses, in connection with the patents. ri.the brake, the first exemple of

Nat Their Business.

The conveners of the " great town's meeting " in Hackney, to which we referred to in our last issue, have now presented a copy of their resolutions to the Law and Parliamentary Committee of the Hackney Borough Council. The alleged nuisances are stated to arise from the servire of motorbuses through Craham Road, from

l)alstoii to Hackney, and the existence, of the garage at Shrubland Road anck of the re-filling shed in Wilton Rom r. The Committee replies that it is advised that " any proceedings againsr. the omnibus company for the abatement of the nuisance caused to the various occupiers of adjoining property by the noises, arising from the carrying on of the company's busine,s• at the places referred to, must betaken by the persons aggrieved, and. that the Council has no power to incur expenditure on this account."
