certificate costs haulier £900 OPERATING A TRUCK with no 0-licence, cabbrated tachograph or test certificate, cost a haulier fines and costs totalling £900, Michael Hards, trading as RTS of Knel I er Road,Whitton, Middlesex, pleaded not guilty before Uxbridge Magistrates to using a vehicle without an 0-licence, calibrated tachograph or test certificate, and failing to enter details on a tachograph chart. Found guilty, he was fined a total of £600 and ordered to pay 1300 towards prosecution costs.
Prosecuting forVOSA,Anthony Ostrin told the court that a vehicle driven by Hards was the subject of a roadside check. Hards stated he was in partnership with Rajesh Voralia, trading as RTS. The vehicle was laden with rags, bagged in sacks bearing the British Heart Foundation logo. An inspection revealed no goods vehicle operator licence disc on display, said Ostrin.
After checking the driver's tachograph records and MoT test, further offences were revealed, The vehicle had been subjected to a tachograph inspection more than two years before the road check, and there was no evidence at all regarding whether the last calibration had taken place. The vehicle was not subject to any operator's licence, nor did it have a test certificate in force on the day of the check.
