Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The receipts of the National Steam Car Co., Ltd., for the week ended 7th November, 1913, were £3570. This shows an increase of £1643 over the corresponding period of 1912. The receipts of the Tramways (M.E.T.) Omnibus Co., Ltd., for the week ended Ist. November, 1913, were £8616, and for the Gearless Omnibus Co., Ltd., £488. These show a decrease of £337 and 1107 respectively as against the previous week.

Todmorden Corporation is considering the purchase of a. motor fire-engine and motor ambulance.

In a paragraph last week we referred to the National Cab. Transport developments as being in charge of Mr. H. J. Thompson, this should have read Mr. H. J. Atlamscn.

A Melbourne Undertaking.

The prospectus of Motorbus Services, Ltd., with an authorized capital of £100,000 in 200,000 shares of 10s. each, was issued, in Melbourne, last month. The company's offices are at 317, Collins Street, Melbourne, and it proposes to acquire, amongst other rolling stock, 10 B-type L.G.O.C. chassis.

Owners of taxicabs at Hove wish to be relieved of the obligation to hire their vehicles by time.

Teignmouth U.D.O. has decided to look into the question of motor equipment for its fire brigade.

The General Purposes Committee of the L.C.C. is offering to cooperate with the Metropolitan Asylums Board, and has suggested the preparation of a detailed scheme, with estimates, for the provision of an efficient ambulance service for London.

Trying to Corner the Bus.

Wood Green U.D.C. is seeking to join with other authorities to test the question of the classification of motor-omnibuses in the, category of vehicles to which extraordinary-traffic damage can be attributed in the outer London districts. Recent Dennis orders include a ninth repeat from the London Fire Brigade, two engines for Coventry, and one each for Farnborough and Wallasey. The London Fire Brigade now has 28 Dennis machines in service L.C.C. Perseverance.

The L.C.C. is making yet another effort to extend the tramrails from Farringdon Street to Ludgate Circus. It has repeatedly failed, owing to the opposition of the City of London Corporation, but further efforts are to be made.

A motion by Sir John Berm, at last week's meeting of the Council, to refer the findings of the Select Committee on motor traffic accidents to a special committee of the Council, was negatived, on a motion for the adjournment of the Council to consider it, by 66 votes

Aberdeen Town Council will seek powers, in the coining session of Parliameut, for the installation of a motorbus service on a particular route.

The retiring Watch Committee of the Southport Town Council made a proposal, at the last meeting before the elections on the 1st inst., that any motor chars-a-banes that were, licensed should travel at a speed of not more than 8 m.p.h.

in the town, and should never accept bookings for a circular tour of less than 16 miles. These points are to be re-considered by the new Watch Committee.

Wolverhampton Town Council has refused to grant a motorbus licence to Mr. John Beddard, of Lower Gornall, for a projected service between Queen's Square and the Borough boundary at Compton Road. The Corporation, it is stated, intends to deal with this route itself at an early date. The Mayor of Ipswich, Mr. E. C. Ransome, is cordially supporting local efforts towards the acquirement of a motor ambulance.

Walsall Town Council will promote a Bill to secure motorbus and trolleybus powers, next session, whilst Lancaster Town Council will probably defer similar action for another 12 months. The Tramways Committee of the Bolton Corporation has decided to apply for powers to run motorbuses; other authorities have like intentions.
