Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Colin L Parsons Transport (Halesowen) is £7,634 worse off after paying fines, costs and back duty for using six untaxed vehicles between June and October 1992.

The company pleaded guilty by letter to 20 offences of using untaxed vehicles.

Traffic examiner Malcolm Seward told Halesowen magistrates that the offences came to light after the company's tachograph charts were compared with DVLA records. Specimen charges of one charge per vehicle for each of the months they were in use were heard.

The magistrates tined the company £200 per offence, ordering it to pay £3.574.95 back duty and £60 prosecution costs.
