Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Grant Prior • Six people nave lost their jobs and 10 more are under threat following a long-running planning row between a trailer park boss and his local council.

Peter Colby, owner of Collease Trailers, currently parks more than 200 of his hire vehicles on a disused airfield in Wymondham, Norfolk.

But officials at South Nor..Ik District Council have given him until the end of next month to remove the trailers.

"I've had to lay people off already. And if we are forced to move the operation then more jobs will go," says Colby.

Co!lease is also a main lveco Ford dealership and has other bases in Norwich, Dagenham and Felixstowe.

The Wymondham park is used as the company's main repair and storage yard.

"Obviously during a recession we need more storage space.," adds Colby. I'm responsible—my vehicles are all properly parked, not just dumped by the side of roads like a lot of trailers."

But the local council claims that the company took over the site in 1985 without planning permission. Chief planning officer Mike Haslam says: "They moved in without a bye your leave and have not been granted planning permission since. I would say we have been more than reasonable. They have been there illegally for nearly a decade."

The council has won an enforcement order requii trailers to be removed by if this is ignored the o faces court action.

"The whole situation ridiculous," says Colby. had planning permission down and yet all we are parking trailers on a dist field miles from anywhen
