Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The Vehicle Inspectorate (VI) has moved to clear up any confusion between the MoT test procedures on windscreen repairs and those of BSAU242. It says the British Standard is not a mandatory repair standard and should not be related to the MoT test. The MoT test manual allows repairs to be made to windscreens judged on merit and taking into account developments in glass repair technology. Glas.Weld, which has always advocated repairs in zone A, sees this as a vindication of its stance which it backs with a money-back guarantee if a vehicle fails its MoT test because of a Glas.Weld wind screen repair.

The VI says none of the legisla tion on cars or CVs calls for windscreen repairs to conform to a standard: it is only the windscreen's condition that is considered during the tests.
