Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

and I want to move it to another beach. Could I tow it with an artic tractive unit taxed as a private vehicle or will it be in order to move it on a suspended tow?

AIf both vehicles carry a current excise licence of the "private"' type and both vehicles are normally used for private purposes no objection can be seen to one towing the other.

Care should be taken to ensure that the towing vehicle is covered by insurance for this purpose.

If, as is suspected, the DUKW is unlicensed, then you cannot legally tow it, whether on a suspended tow or not. It is

an offence to "use or keep.' an unlicensed mechanically propelled vehicle on a road. When a mechanically propelled vehicle is being towed it is being usedand consequently it must be licensed.

The only way an unlicensed mechanically propelled vehicle can be transported on public roads is for it to be carried on a lorry, trailer, or, in certain circumstances, with trade plates.
