FIVE basic models of Marathon tractive unit are available. The shortest wheelbase 4x2 version of these, fitted with a standard day cab, can be used in conjunction with 12.2m (40ft) semi-trailers using one fifth-wheel position.

All trailers with 762mm (30in) or 1,016mm (40in) overhang, regardless of length can be coupled to this 2.97m (9ft 9in) wheelbase model and the fifth-wheel is mounted 584mm (23in) ahead of the rear axle.

Those UK operators requiring a sleeper-cab model in rhd form can choose the 3.12m (10ft 3m) wheelbase short sleeper-cab model. This is available only with the Leyland TL12 power unit.

Still staying within the UK maximum length of 15m (49ft 2in) this wheelbase model can be coupled to 1,016mm (40in) pin; in those countries which permit a maximum length of 15.5m (50ft 10in), the Marathon can couple to 12.7m (41ft Sin) trailers.

Lefthand-drive European models are available with a 3.55m (lift Sin) wheelbase.
