• A £7m underground rail loop beneath Liverpool city centre is being planned by the Merseyside PTA. Working drawings are to be made at the cost of £240,000, ruady for putting the work out to tender in 1971. Officials of the MPTA Executive forecast that the loop line and integrated transport system -will relieve congestion in Liverpool and Birkenhead centres; as a result bus services .are expected to move more freely.
