• A £7m underground rail loop beneath Liverpool city centre is being planned by the Merseyside PTA. Working drawings are to be made at the cost of £240,000, ruady for putting the work out to tender in 1971. Officials of the MPTA Executive forecast that the loop line and integrated transport system -will relieve congestion in Liverpool and Birkenhead centres; as a result bus services .are expected to move more freely. New local bus services linking with train schedules are proposed in the near future.
Merseyside PTA agreed at its March meeting that a qd rates precept should be made on member authorities.
