• The Ministry of Transport is to hold an inquiry at Newcastle upon Tyne on March 26 into an appeal by 29 North-East local authorities against fare increases granted to United Automobile Services Ltd, Darlington. The increases were approved by the Northern area five months ago, and brought into operation soon afterwards. The local authorities contend that the increases were excessive and unreasonable.
