At the annual general meeting, Mr.
T. Caddy was elected chairman of the A.R.0, North Staffs Sub-area; Mr, G. F. Goodwin was appointed hon. secretary, with Mr. F. Griffiths as solicitor.
West-country Call for Lower Tax.
Representing between 600 and 700 A and B-licensees, and a large majority of the commercial vehicles in the two counties, the Devon and Cornwall area of A.R.O. has passeda resolution demanding a reduction of 2d, on the petrol duty.
Organizing Drive in Wrexham.
In an endeavour to link up the whole of the local operators with the C.M.U.A., an open meeting of coach and bus and goods-vehicle owners is to be held at the Wynnstay Arms Hotel, Wrexham, on March 17, at 7.30 p.m. Amongst the 'speakers will he Col. A. jerrett (C.M.U.A. president-elect), Mr, J. Ferrington (P.S.V. chairman, Manchester area), Mr. IL H. Lapsley (secretary, Manchester area), and Mr.
S. Preece (organizer, Manchester and Liverpool). Mr. Bell (Messrs. IV. B. Bell and Sons, Berse) will take the chair,
S.T.R. at York To-morrow.
Under the auspices of the C.M.U.A., S.T.R., The Commercial Motor consultant on transport economics, will lecture at York to-morrow (Saturday).
C. of C. Co-operates with A.R.O. for S.T.R. Lecture, In view of the importance of the attitude of Chambers of Commerce towards road transport, particular interest attaches to the fact that Newcastle Chamber of Commerce co-operated with the Northern Division of A.R.O. in connection with the address which S.T.R, delivered in Newcastle On Tuesday.
