used truck of the week. Each week our man inside the used truck trade picks out a truck or trailer from CM's online classified list. This week, it's an Iveco Stralis 450 Active Space Words: Laurie Dealer THIS WEEK'S top truck is a 2008-registered 6x2 Iveco Stralis.
The 2008-plate truck is powered by the Euro-5 Cursor 10 engine producing 450hp and 2,100Nm torque, and is fitted with an automated 12-speed transmission.
It comes with an Active Space sleeper cab, and a sliding fifth-wheel on the chassis. The truck reference number is WEB-2317. The price is on application with the vendor, ATE trailers.
Without lambasting the early Iveco Stralis product too heavily, it is fair to say the Stralis didn't enjoy the best of reputations among discerning hauliers.
However, the Italians have raised their game. While our backs were turned, the manufacturer steadily improved the Stralis to the point that it would be foolish to dismiss it as a viable truck based solely on hear say; it is now a solid and dependable vehicle.
The Cursor 10 is recognised as one of the more frugal engines on the market, the cab is well thought out, and you can pick one up for a decent price. What's not to like?
