from Associated Cold Storage and Transport (ACS&T) have completed a new qualification in warehousing and storage as part of a pilot programme.
Devised by the Food Storage and Distribution Federation (FSDF), the Level 2 Qualifications and Credit Framework Certificate in Warehousing and Storage has been trialled by Cold Move, Oakland International and ACS&T employees over the past year. The training covered health and safety; food hygiene; hazard analysis and critical control points; team working; and goods in and goods out procedures.
"This training helps reinforce the employee's knowledge and assists with overall performance. It will also help new employees learn the skills they need to perform more effectively, and explain why we do things a certain way," said ACS&T compliance and training manager Tony Chapman. He added that the pilot had been a success, but "some refinement is needed" before the qualification is rolled out by FSDF across the sector.
ACS&T operates from four centres in Grimsby, Wolverhampton, Tewkesbury and Scarborough. Its estate includes 12 cold stores, three ambient stores, and co-packing facilities.
