Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Tail-lift makers say some operators still forget that the rated capacity of a lift depends on where on the platform the load is being carried—the load centre. This is usually quoted as 600mm, although some manufactures quote capacities for 700mm load centres. The difference can be important, especially if you a routinely lifting large loads where the centre of gravity may be beyond the quoted load centre.

Remember that a tail-lift with a quoted capacity of 1,500kg can only lift that weight when the 1°440 is 600mm from the back edge of the platform. If the load is placed, say, 900mm from the back edge the capacity is reduced. If a 700mm load centre does not give enough capacity either, the solu-s tion is to specify a lift with a greater capacity,
