Denise Transport had applied for a new national licence for five vehicles based at Collingwood Farm, Golfcourse Road, Orsett. The sole director and transport manager was named as Denise O'Nion.

PC fain McKinnon said that on 14 July 1995 the company was convicted by the Basildon magistrates on two offences of using vehicles without excise licences. It was fined £2,700 and ordered to pay 1270.83 back duty with £30 costs.

On 24 July 1995 it was convicted by Southend magistrates on four offences of using vehicles without 0-licences and fined £5,150 with £98 costs. On 18 September 1995 it was convicted by the same magistrates of using a vehicle without an excise licence. It was fined 4120 and ordered to pay £270.83 back duty with £30 costs.

Refusing the application, Eastern Traffic Commissioner Brigadier Compton Boyd said he was not satisfied about either the company's repute or its professional competence.
