• Tibbett & Britten Fashion Logistics says it has agreed contracts with two-thirds of the customers of Scorpio International, the garments carrier which will close next week.
Fashion Logistics boss Bob Vickers says he is confident of winning almost all of the remaining 200 deals "within weeks". United Carriers, which owns Scorpio, has sold the goodwill of the firm to T&B.
Although T&B will take up to 40 of Scorpio's 100-strong fleet of vehicles, the future of the division's managing director, Keith Sabey, and its 300 staff is uncertain. Vickers says it is unlikely that any of the workers will be taken on.
