• Scottish hauliers have been given a year to prove that they need a new interrnodal freight service — otherwise they will lose it.
On 8 July Railfreight Distribution will launch a service from North-East Scotland to Strathclyde, where freight can be forwarded to UK cities, ports and on to the Continent aboard Railfreight's European services.
Railfreight says it is looking for 60-70% capacity on the service, otherwise it will be scrapped after a year: "It is up to the business community to support the service by providing traffic," says Railfreight's UK director, Tim Hansford. "They have got to use it or lose it."
