ROADLINE UK's first woman branch manager is Sue Rodgers, who has taken charge of the 33 vehicles and 45 staff at the company's Rowley Drive branch in Coventry. Miss Rodgers, a graduatee of Leicester University, joined Roadline three years ago as a National Freight management trainee, and gained a wide range of experience at the Ipswich depot. She also served as an operations manager and as an acting branch manager, in the Midlands.
BET company Smith's of Maddiston Ltd has promoted its senior accountant Robin Wilson to become financial controller. He joined the haulier in April 1978, having worked previously with Glasgow accountant Thomson McLintock and Company.
The new national distribution manager of Air Products Ltd's UK Industrial Gas Division is Lewis Maeer. He was the company's Manchester distribution manager.
National Travel (West) commercial manager Clive Myers is taking on the task of general manager (commercial) at National Express, and will be responsible for the existing commercial field staff of the division, including the product planning, development, control, and operational liaison functions. Mr Myers, who will be based at Manchester, worked with Cros ville Motor Services, before moving to National TRAVEL.
Former head of sales and marketing with Travelscene, Don Hirst, has moved to Tricentrol Travel Group as its assistant managing director. He started his career with Cadbury Schweppes, and has nearly 15 years' experience of marketing and sales in the travel trade.
The Boughton Group has appointed two new directors. They are Ian Orr-Ewing, managing director of the subsidiary waste compaction equipment manufacturer, Anchorpac Ltd, and Keith Purkiss, managing director of Hearncrest Boughton Ltd, manufacturer of the Ampliroll demountable body system. They are now directors of each others' companies.

Borg-Warner's transmissio division has a new managin director in American-born Ke Thorpe. He worked for Chrysif in the United States, Spain, an South Africa, and succeec Peter Whybrow, who has br come director of sales and ma keting. Mr Thorpe was presider of the Harley Davidson Golf CE Division.
