• John Smith and Sons, of Dalton. Thirsk, applied to the Yorkshire Traffic Commissioners in Leeds on Tuesday for four additional excursion picking-up points south of Thirsk because on Sundays its own stage carriage services were inadequate to feed the authorized tours. It also asked to add two further day excursions and amend another tour to stop for meals in Bridlington. J. Armstrong objected.
Mr. J. Smith, a partner. said this licence started from Thirsk and picked up at Sand Hutton and Kirby Wiske, with half its 32 excursions being half-day circular tours.
He operated the stage carriage services from Dalton and Sessay, said Mr. Smith, but no buses ran on Sundays to take passengers into Thirsk. So although he was based at Dalton at present he could only pick up people from these two villages in Thirsk itself.
After discussion the objectors withdrew.
