Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Trials of Atkinson, Bedford and Mack snow ploughing vehicles were carried out during the winter of 1967/68 for the MoT Winter Maintenance Equipment Development Committee by the Military Engineering Experimental Establishment (MEXE). Ministry of Defence.

The object of the trials was to measure drawbar pull and drawbar horsepower to aid the design of future models of these all-wheeldrive vehicles which are used to propel various types of snowploughs.

During the same period, trials of an appara tus designed to measure the thrusts on snowploughs were also carried out. The apparatus was developed in an attempt to find a means of quantitatively comparing the relative efficiencies of various types of snowploughs.

As the subject matter of these reports is to some extent interrelated, both have been issued under cover of Technical Memorandum H4/69. Copies may be obtained from:— the Ministry of Transport, TCR Division, Room 2/83, St. Christopher House, Southwark Street, London, SEl.
