• An open meeting of the Association of Industrial Road Safety Officers was held in Birmingham on Wednesday. The proposed constitution of the Association was discussed and accepted and the objects and membership agreed as follows: • To provide a professional organization for road safety officers within industry.
IA To establish and maintain a high standard of qualification and performance of industrial road safety officers.
El To promote road safety within undertakings operating fleets of vehicles by exchange of information relating to accident prevention schemes, driving techniques and vehicle construction.
O To study and discuss new legislation especially that affecting driver training and safety factors in vehicle usage, design, equipment and accessories.
E To promote investigation and research into road safety problems and training.
El To present opinions and recommendations on road safety matters to Ministries, Government departments or other bodies.
Membership, subject to election by council, will be open to any individual or concern interested in road safety accident prevention and driver training in the categories of member or associate member.
Open meetings will be held quarterly at various venues at the invitation of member companies. The first a,g.m. will take place at Hereford on September 10 when it is expected that the proposed constitution will be formally accepted,
