Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• No managing director has yet been appointed by Dennis Bros. Ltd. to replace Mr. B. G. Stacey. Mr. Alan R. Stewart, in his chairman's interim report to shareholders dated June 6, says: "You may have noticed in the Press !CM May 161 that the managing director resigned on May 9, 1969. A team effort is already being made by the remaining executive directors and management to stop the losses and we are actively seeking a new individual possessing all the skills to put Dennis Brothers back onto a profit making basis. Any such appointment will, of course, be announced in the Press in the usual way".

Over the 28-week period October 11968 to April 13 1969 un-audited accounts showed a loss before tax of £60,314. Profits before tax for the six months from October 1 1967 to March 31 1968 were £75,696.

The chairman also referred to the calling off of the proposed merger between Dennis Bros. and Tecalemit, reported in CM last week.
