• Commercial vehicle registrations rose in June and for the year to date, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
Overall CV registrations rose by 6.4% to 27,175 for June 2000, while the year-to-date numbers increased by 4.5% to a total of 151,907.
Scania did particularly well, boosting sales by 30% over January-June 1999, rising steadily over the past three months.
Iveco Ford's sales also rose in June, reversing declining sales in April and May LDV sales of CVs up to 3.5 tonnes rose by 866 to 7,784.
Ford bucked the upward trend—the market leader for 3.5-tonne vans recorded a slight decline that has continued for the past three months.
Mercedes-Benz recorded a rise in the 1,800-3,500kg sector but its HGV sales continue to fall, both month-on-month and for the year to date.
