• More than 1,000 drivers have been filmed jumping red traffic lights by West Midlands police video cameras.
The 276 worst cases are being prosecuted. The cameras were set up at three junctions, two in Birmingham and one in Coventry, following the suc cess of a pilot scheme in Nottingham.
Now West Midlands police plan to install further cameras at other junctions. Northumbrian police are to use video cameras to monitor driving on the A68 and A69.
