Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• In the past you have printed many stories about firms being short of professional lorry drivers and fork lift drivers.

I am an experienced furniture porter with industrial and continental experience. I have experience in low-loader work, loading bulldozers on and off artic wagons and have driven fork lift trucks from pallet trucks to 10-tonne container trucks.

I can also rope and sheet lorries, but find that at 40 years of age nobody wants to know; all they want are young boys who don't know the job so they can keep the wages down to a bare minium. I'm prepared to move to any part of the country for work: I have a provisional HGV1 and a car licence (both clean) and a family to support — any offers? WG Scatterty,

Reigate,

Surrey.

Does experience count for nothing — or are there CM readers who need it? We'll pass any letters on to Mr Scatterty — Ed.
