G & R Enterprises, trading as G & R Travel of Oxton, Wirral has been renewed for one year only when it appeared before North Western Traffic Commissioner Martin Albu last week, following maintenance problems.

Evidence was given by a Department of Transport examiner that he had examined seven vehicles during a maintenance investigation, imposing one immediate prohibition, three delayed prohibitions and three defect notices. A total of 37 defects were discovered.

For the company, it was said the problems had been caused by a move of premises. A contract had been taken out with a commercial garage for the maintenance of its four large coaches until the new premises were sorted out.

Albu said that he only proposed renewing the licence for a year so he could make sure that the company had in fact sorted everything out at an early stage.
