to sack bus driver R G Holt, on the grounds that his conviction for deception and handling stolen property worth over 226,000 rendered him unsuitable for continued employment as a pay driver, has been held to be reasonable by a Liverpool industrial tribunal.
The tribunal was told that Wirral district manager, Lionel Wilkinson had read of Holt's conviction and sentence of 140 hours community service in the Liverpool Echo.
According to the company's rule book, employees must inform it immediately if they face being reported by the police for an offence, or have received notice of prosecution.
