Union-Transport has a fleet of 375 trucks and 600 light commercial vehicles and deals in national and international haulage.
The Dusseldorf-based company has a turnover of 2368 million, employs 4,300 staff and owns more than 170,000rd of storage space.
If the acquisition is successful Nedlloyd's turnover will increase by around a quarter.
