• A new, full-length high-roo Escort van will go on sale at Ford dealers at a special offer price on 24 July. It will be buil alongside the normal Escort van at Halewood, before beini delivered to Motor Panels at Wigan for the glass-reinforced plastic roof to be fitted.
A launch stock of only 110 vehicles has been ordered, which will be fitted to a combination of Standard and Popu, In Escort vans. The petrol/ diesel split will be 50/50.
Ford claims that the vehicle offers an increase of 7.5% in body cube over the normal high-roof Escort's 1.94m3. There is also a shelf over the driving compartment so the shape of the load area will be similar to that of a Luton van.
While Ford is testing the market with this speciallypriced batch of vehicles, it is unlikely that the vehicle will ever be more than an SVO op tion in Ford's marketing plans
