DISCUSSIONS have started about the EEC's proposals for aiding transport infrastructure investment said Environment Under Secretary Lord Bellwin, when he was asked for loans or grants towards the Channel Tunnel.
The French Government had given their blessing to the French railways' continued involvement in the studies, he added. The revised scheme was now a rail link, as opposed to a rail-road link, and this might well fit in better with the present energy situation, said Viscount Sidrnouth.
