represented the 're-establishment of the former transport arrangement which operated from 1945 to 1949, when many of the member concerns were nationalized.
The Association now has a membership of 29 haulage concerns covering all the larger industrial areas in the British Isles' who are pledged to provide "a guaranteed standard of service" and thus to ensure that traffic can be freely interchanged without prejudicing the interests of traders.
Frank lmpey and Co., accountants, 144 Great Charles Street, Birmingham. 3, who are represented at Association meetings by Mr. G. W. Percival, are secretaries of the T.A. The chairman is Mr. K. Burgess. of Miller Gordon, Ltd., 31-33 Little Woolton Street, Liverpool.
The Association is a non-profit-making organization and its object is to foster personal liaison between a group of hauliers of good standing who can provide suitable transport and depot facilities for the interchange of traffic.
Only approved hauliers are accepted as members. Membership has grown rapidly in the past 18 months, and it is considered that a total of 50 would give sufficient representation in all areas. Arrangements for hack-loads and the transfer of traffic are normally made directly between members.
