to: its members by the Liverpool Cart and Motor Owners' Association:— " When signing for loads,'particalarly at. the docks, drivers should take care that they qualify their signatures in accordance with the actual condition of the packages. Recently, a member had to meet a claim for the reconditioning of some of the contents of wooden 'cases delivered cx quay to a warehouse. Apparently sound in every other respect, many of the cases, were delivered in a wet condition. Normally, a driver may have the idea that a wet wooden case does not merit a qualified signature. In view, of this member's experience, others would he well advised to give renewed instructions to their drivers."
