Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A group of Suffolk-based hauliers who say they are tired of waiting for the government to reduce fuel costs are gathering this week to try and come up with "constructive solutions" to the problems facing the industry.

The meeting is open to hauliers from across the country; it has no connection with the East Anglian Hauliers Group which regularly lobbies parliament on such issues.

Organisers Brian Palmer and Cohn Frost, who are both agricultural hauliers, are reluctant to pre-empt the outcome of the meeting but they hope to focus on realistic solutions such as a universal increase in rates.

However, in the wake of this week's disruption by French hauliers, some operators are likely to be in favour of more radical action. "I admire what the East Anglian Hauliers Group are doing but we have all done our bit and we're getting nowhere," says Palmer.

• The meeting is scheduled for 20:00hrs today (Thursday 13 January) at Chassis Cab's site

in Addison Way. Great Blakenham, Suffolk.

The East Anglian Hauliers Group will be lobbying MP during a reception at th House of Commons on 2 January. invitations have bee sent to about 100 MPs and th group expects a large turnou of hauliers from Norfolk Suffolk and Essex.
