Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Like fifth wheels, drawbar couplings are covered by 94/20/EC; approved models that meet the strength test have a V-rating. There is a requirement for centre and steered-axle couplings to be interchangeable, but it only applies to couplings within 350mm of the chassis tail.

VBG says that excludes most UK centre-axle drawbars, which would count as specials if the directive become law over here. VBG continues to offer its 627RB drawbar coupling with either a 57mm pin for centre-axle trailers or a 50mm pin for steered-axle units. The stronger pin is needed on centre-axle trailers because the inherent rocking motion imposes higher vertical loads on the coupling than steeraxle trailers.

Rockinger believes it has the first coupling that will suit all types of drawbar trailers. Its

500A65 coupling has 50mm pin but is tool enough to cope with t dynamics of centre-a) trailers. At 43kg, it is al; 10% lighter than the pr vious model.
