the new model looks little changed from the old Transit, but It has been improved in many ways. A particular priority was stowage space: the cab has cup-holders, clips and a mobile phone ''holster", as well as space for two twolitre bottles in each door pocket. Other features include seats with more adjustment than before, and twin 12V sockets.
Much attention was paid to noise and refinement, toe: the new Transit meets current drive-by noise limits even without engine shielding. Load security Is a major concern for van owners, and Ford has fitted all UK versions of the Transit with remote central locking, incorporating a code scrambler to prevent code "grabbing".
But the real innovation is a new "lock-in-latch" system: the door lock has its latch built in to prevent the doer being opened by a thief with access to the inside of the door—even with the door skin off, it should not be possible to open the door without the key.
